China's Ultra-Large Diameter Flange & Key Component Sector: Technological Breakthroughs, Localization Progress, and Deepened Global Cooperation


Domestic enterprises have made breakthroughs in the ultra-large diameter flange technology. Companies such as Jiangsu Fanya Micro-permeation have mastered the integral forming technology for flanges with a diameter of DN6000 and above. They have obtained certifications including the EU PED (Pressure Equipment Directive) and the US ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) certification, and successfully entered the international high-end supply chain. On the material front, the nickel-based alloy seal rings developed by Sinoseal Holdings have a service life of 80,000 hours. The relevant flanges produced by Jiangsu Shentong have achieved a 45% weight reduction and can withstand a low temperature of -196℃, realizing the localization substitution of key components.

Foreign capital and local enterprises have deepened their cooperation. The Vallourec-Baosteel joint venture project realized the localization of X80-grade pipeline flanges in 2023, and after reaching full production capacity, it will meet 60% of the demand for the 4th phase of the West-East Gas Pipeline Project. Siemens and Sany Heavy Industry have jointly established a laboratory, and the fault early warning accuracy rate of the flange system developed by them has reached 98.5%. Such cooperation and technological advancements are driven by the requirement of achieving an 85% localization rate during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period.

Dingxiang Jinyu Company Successfully Forges 09MnNiDR Weld Neck Flanges, Demonstrating Strength Through Complex Processes

Recently, the company has successfully forged a batch of weld neck flanges made of 09MnNiDR material. This material is a low-alloy high-strength steel for low-temperature pressure vessels, which maintains high impact toughness even at -70℃. It is mainly used for connecting pressure vessels in harsh low-temperature fields such as energy and petrochemical industries.

During the production process, the company adopted professional integral forging technology to control the entire process, and precisely adjusted parameters of each link including blank cutting, heating, upsetting, and punching. This effectively avoids defects in the blank and ensures the precision and quality of the flanges. After forging, a complex heat treatment process of quenching + tempering was also applied: quenching enhances the strength and hardness, while tempering eliminates internal stress, optimizes toughness, and stabilizes the dimensions of the flanges.

This successful production fully demonstrates the company’s strength in technology, equipment, and quality control, laying a solid foundation for undertaking high-difficulty orders and expanding the market.
